Chapter 2: Unloving You

Review this fic!

I stepped off of the curb I had been standing on and began to walk, the soul I had sensed before leading me. It was night and the streets were still full of people, in fact there were more now then you would have seen in the day. When I said this town loved vampires, I meant it. Every name of every store, club, street, even pet names were vampire in their own way. Work hours were later so people were up later into the evening, and night jobs were more common than any other. The town functioned almost completely at night.  Strange perhaps, but perfect for me.

Even though I was dressed much like them- black from head top toe- I still kept my distance as I continued to walk into the part of town were the houses were. Vampires tend to have a kind of aura that causes humans to fall for them. They would have known what I was if I had gotten to close.

I passed a couple houses and turned my attention back to the soul I was after. When I say soul you might think I was off to a graveyard, but that is not so. I mean simply a young boy about the age of sixteen living in this town. His passion for vampires went beyond any other that I felt there. I believed he would be important in my plan.

I walked a couple more blocks before I stopped at 1331 Blood Lust Dr. I took a moment to look around the house. It was black with dark red trim and had a screened in porch at the back. The curtains in the windows were also black and a small black kitten was sitting in the window, most likely to the living room of the house.

I suddenly saw a faint light appear in the window of one of the rooms above. Most of the people here used candles to light their houses so it wasn’t very bright. Slowly, the light brightened and a young boy appeared at the window. He had blue eyes and short hair that was black at the end and got lighter as you went to the root until it was light brown. From where I was stood he looked like he was probably about 5’9 and was built slim.

He looked around at the view from his window and was about it go back into the room when he spotted me and our eyes met. I knew he wouldn’t be able to look away from me but that wasn’t what bothered me. For some reason I couldn’t turn my gaze from him either.

*~*~

I looked into the man’s eyes- no, he couldn’t be human, he was too pale. He had long white hair that was tied back with a ribbon and was wearing all black. His shirt had long sleeves with holes at the ends where his thumbs stuck threw. He’s pants were leather and fit him almost like a second skin. Every curve was visible and the pants left nothing for the mind to imagine. But his eyes, they were more beautiful than anything I had ever seen before. Cold, dead pools of gray that sucked me in and threatened to pull me from the window. I had never seen anything like him. He was more beautiful than anything I had ever seen and I couldn‘t figure out why.

What’s your name? A voice said into my mind and somehow I knew it was his.

“S-Sirus Cross,” I said and saw him smile, showing ivory white teeth and sharp canines. Suddenly, he disappeared. I looked around the yard; he couldn’t have just disappeared.

“Or could I have?” I turned around quickly and my eyes met his again. I couldn’t talk. Those beautiful gray eyes just pulled at my soul and demanded something from me, but I couldn't figure out what.

*~*~

“H-how did yo-you get in h-here?” he stuttered. I smiled at him and stepped back some.

“How do you think?” I answered his question with another question. He looked at me curiously and seemed to slowly believe that I was really the thing he loved and worshiped.

“You’re a vampire aren't you?” he’s voice was clear now. I nodded and sat on his bed.

“Yes I am. Does that frighten you?” He shook his head and looked me over again.

“I never thought I’d actually meet one. Then again, I was never for sure if they were real, just that I’d love to meet one.”

I smiled at that. Just a second ago he had been scared I was some one that had come to hurt him. Now that he knew I was a vampire, a being that truly COULD hurt him, he wasn’t scared at all.

“You’re very brave,” I said.

“Not brave, just obsessed,” he replied. I had to laugh at that.

“What’s your name?” he asked, and looked me in the eye again.

For a moment I stopped. I wasn’t sure what it was about this boy, but for some reason I melted when he looked at me. His eyes were so full of life now, like my being here was something he had waited for all his life. Like he had known we’d meet some day. Like he knew of everything that had happened two thousand years ago.

I turned my eyes from him and looked about the room. Everything was black and for some reason looked familiar. The walls were lined with book shelves that had every book about vampires know to man. There was a TV in one corner of the room and the only window was the one Sirus still stood at. The bed I sat on was a king sized canopy bed with black satin sheets and pillowcases.

Suddenly a sharp pain went throw my head and I saw a vision of Sirus and me on his bed having sex. The pain was so great and the sight so confusing that I fell to my knees on the floor, holding my head. He ran to my side and put a hand on my shoulder.

“Are you all right?” he asked.

The vision went threw my head one more time but this time I tasted blood in my mouth and it made me want to take him, make him what I was. I opened my eyes, which I never realized I had closed, and saw his beautiful face come into my sight.

I nodded, “Yes, yes I’ll be fine.” He helped me sit on the bed again and sat next to me, looking at me with concern.

“What happened?” he asked.

“Nothing,” I replied, and shoved down the urge to taste his blood, “But I can’t help but wonder why you care so much. You don’t even know me and I could kill you in an instant if I wanted to.”

He blushed slightly at that. “I just know you won’t,” he said and took my hand. When his hand touched mine I felt the vision pull at my mind and my hungry resurface. I jumped up suddenly to get it out of my mind and startled him.

“I must go. I will come back tomorrow night.” And with that I jumped out of the window and disappeared from his sight. I had a feeling that would hurt him some but at the moment I really didn't care. I didn’t know why but he seemed so familiar and that scared me. I had never been able to trust people right away so seeming so close to him from the start was not something I had expected. Not only that but the vision and the wanting, no, needing to drink from him would have drove me mad if I had stayed longer.

I returned quickly to the cemetery where I had awoken from and crawled back into my tomb. Tomorrow I would return to him and tell him of my plan and the past, but now dawn was coming and I needed to sleep. Yes, I could have slept in his basement but being that close to him would never have let me die for the morning.
